Busy busy!

We have been so busy here visiting with one grandma...



and planning a trip to see the other grandma and the rest of our family on the east coast. She is totally thrilled about it, by the way:

We went to the night market yesterday evening with Clementine in the sling. In the course of bargaining for some really cute Christmas presents (I know, I know! But I had a BABY this year! How could I possibly get anything done?) Jacy asked if we could get a cute baby discount. Here in Thailand, that is a TOTALLY valid bargaining chip. Plus, Clementine is such a pro shopper already. She was asleep but at the mention of a discount, she woke up and gave the vendor a completely heartbreaking smile.



Oh, we got our discount.

Christmas party

We went to a children's Christmas party yesterday.

Lots of children; lots of noise. Here's how my sweet Clementine deals with stress:

I guess performing for the camera takes not only an inordinate amount of coaxing but also TWO parents.

I tried for a little bit yesterday to get Clementine to smile in the presence of a camera. HA! The closest I could get was the picture in the lower left hand corner.



If you look at it more closely, I am POSITIVE that it's actually more of a smirk...



You should know that during this whole ordeal, anytime I put the camera down, she would light up with the biggest, most beautiful smiles in the world. And then I'd pick up the camera (even in stealth mode on some of the really blurry ones) and she'd be all "whatever, sucker."
